The Nursing Advisory Board established in this legislation will create a neutral environment for research and discussion of issues facing the nursing workforce in Massachusetts, now and in the future. The Advisory Board will be made up of eight individuals. The members shall represent all areas of nursing including but not limited to, acute care, community-based care, long-term institutional care, public health, school health, and academia. This Advisory Board will serve as a think tank which will produce research for long-range planning and strategic policy development in the field of nursing. Based on its research, the Advisory Board shall make recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature on public policy matters related to nursing in Massachusetts. The Advisory Board may seek public and private grant money to fund its research endeavors (this is a refile of H.2005).
