Rep. Khan's Juvenile Justice Bill is Signed into Law

Governor Patrick Rep. Khan's legisation, An Act Expanding Juvenile Jurisdiction into law, which allows for a teenager to be tried as a juvenile at age 17. This law incorporates up-to-date scientific research that offers a more effective method of approaching 17 year-olds who enter the criminal justice system. This law will reduce the number of young adults going into the adult prison system thereby lowering costs to the Commonwealth and will provide opportunity through counseling and schooling in the juvenile detention facilities to enable our youth to contribute to society once released and build a better future for themselves and the Commonwealth.
